Home-Kitchen Accessories

This first picture has a very creative storage solution: the barn door.  I've seen larger ones used to hide laundry facilities, but this is the first I've seen of one used for a pantry.  Of course the color helps :)

Up next, lighting.  SchoolHouse Electric is a great source for these types of fixtures:

Backsplashes are your chance to really define your kitchen.  You can show your style, and pretty inexpensivly, if you do it yourself. You can't go wrong with glass piano tile:

And finally, stools.  The first is a BassamFellows Tractor Sool:

This is a Thos. Moser High Stool:

This final picture from Brown Designs, Inc. uses metal stools that tie into the stainless steel look of the appliances.

Home-Kitchen

There is without a doubt a common thread in the pictures I select for kitchens: white subway tile.  I installed it myself in my own kitchen, which should tell you how simple it is to do.  I also really love sage green painted cabinets, which I also painted my kitchen.  Of course, once I realized that the sample pint I bought wasn't real paint, I had to sand down the counters and repaint them.  This time I went for a brighter green.  Ah, the joys of the learning process.

This picture was the inspiration photo I used when re-doing my kitchen.  I even use red as an accent color.

Bye Bye Baby, Hello Home Decor

It's for my favorite of all things, home decorating!  Get excited!!

Let's start with the living room.  I typically don't like modern, as I value comfort.  I do, however, love a little hotel-style swank, as seen below:

Too many stripes for my taste, but I love the mirror placement.

The two pictures below are actually efficiency apartments.

Baby: Storage

A few organization/storage ideas:

A cheap way to add a little flair to your storage.

A great way to organize your baby clothes, thanks to Making it Lovely:

Baby: Wall Decor

I'm loving the wall decals.

The idea to steal from this room is the cute name frames.  Very easy to make.

An alphabet wall hanging from Z Gallerie:

Put your old Barbie outfits to good use.  Okay, only one person I know probably still has Barbie outfits, but you get the idea.

An easy and cheap way to take up wall space.  Switch out pictures of baby once he/she arrives.

For the more crafy of my friends.  An easy method would be to buy scrapbook paper and decoupage the paper onto wooden blocks, or for less weight, just used raised foam.

Baby Decor: Cribs and Bedding

I think a convertible bed is the way to go.  It costs more, but changes with your child, from birth through adulthood.  The pics below are just plain cribs.  Some old fashioned, some modern.

Baby

And speaking of babies...time to get to my baby decor inspirations.

We'll start with my all-around favorite:

Princesses are not at all my thing, but I have a few friends that would love this:
